Religious Freedom Rallies

On March 23 at noon, in over 110 cities across America, ‘Stand Up for Religious Freedom’ rallies will be held to stop the Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandate which requires employers to provide free contraception, sterilization, and abortion inducing drugs. This mandate violates the conscience’s of millions of Americans and is a blatant attack on our constitutional right to religious liberty.

President Obama’s administration is confining the practice of faith to within the four walls of churches. You should not stand by idle while this is done. Too many people are silent and believe that people of faith are the minority, but this is not the truth. Apathy will do nothing and good men must say something!

Media and abortion advocates are attacking the Catholic church at its core. They have split us before on the abortion issue and we must not allow them to do it again. Our opponents are scared of the Catholic church. They should be because truth and love are on our side!

We must and will be united as one nation under God!

Religious Liberty - A Time to Stand

Nearly four years ago Barack Obama was elected president of the United States. I was 16 years old and on that day I wept because I knew President Obama was going to do things that would drastically challenge and change our society because he had neither regard for the children in the womb nor for religious liberties. I had just gotten out of a dance class and I was sitting in front of Target weeping because our country was about to hurt and I knew that I was one of many who would not be silent against the civil injustices of my lifetime. I wondered what we were about to face. . .

I’m nearly 20 years old now and over the last three years my fears have come true. The citizens of the United States have fought FOCA, abortion coverage in health-care, same sex marriage, and much more. Then, a few weeks ago President Obama’s administration mandated contraception, abortifacients, and sterilization under his new health care law. Not only does the mandate give these services on demand with no co-pay or out of pocket fee, but it requires employers to provide this insurance or be fined. It also requires employers to educate employees on the services.

Oh and have I mentioned the worse part yet?

Every employer, with only churches as the exception, must provide this morally unacceptable insurance or be fined. President Obama’s administration is allowing us to only practice our faith within the four walls of our church because otherwise this insurance policy is required for institutions such as Catholic Hospitals, schools, Catholic Charities... This is first and foremost a First Amendment religious liberty issue. Your rights have been violated, and this is just the beginning.

Yes, this is about abortion, contraception, and sterilization, but more so about President Obama’s administration’s power to overrule rights and religious freedoms. If they are able to put this mandate into action, they will be able to next add abortion to the list of available preventative services. This is an extremely slippery slope!

Yes, four years later, and we are facing the biggest civil rights issue since Roe vs Wade! I’m 20 years old and I just saw Jayne, my 20 year old best friend, and more than five other close friends be arrested for praying in front of the White House yesterday. They stood for what they believe in, they prayed to God for mercy on our country, they prayed for our religious liberties, and they were arrested on a public sidewalk.

In all honesty how much worse could it possibly get?

Mandated funding of contraception, abortifacients, and sterilization.

Religious liberties violated and ignored.

Men and woman arrested for praying on a public sidewalk.

I’m writing to you with tears and in shock. Jayne and I aren’t just little girls anymore praying hand and hand in front of an abortion clinic and sidewalk counseling women before their child’s life is taken. We are now praying and taking action against mandated funding of morally unacceptable services. We are fighting for our rights, while trying to fight for the rights of the precious children in the womb.

So I ask you. Will you stand together America?

A few nights ago, on a national conference call Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life said, “You do not adapt to an injustice. You oppose it!”. Father Pavone also talked about how this battle is not one that will be won over night, but will be an ongoing long term struggle. It will take months and it could take us into next year, but WE CAN NOT GIVE UP. They want us to be utterly overwhelmed; they want our tears to turn into apathy.

Arrest at White House

With a heavy heart I share that this morning a number of my close friends were arrested infront of the White House for peacefully standing and praying on a public sidewalk in defense of religious liberties and against the HHS mandate violating every American's conscience. This could be the greatest civil rights issue of our time. May God have mercy on our country!

My best friend Jayne White was unconstitutionally arrested for kneeling and praying in behalf of religious liberties. They were silenced by the arrest and released a little later after having payed a $100 fine per person.



Father Wilder of Priest for Life was also arrested yesterday and said, “Occupy Wall Street protesters have been occupying federal property for months, but when we kneel in prayer, the police are called in and we are arrested,” Father Wilder continued, “We knew that was the risk when we gathered today, and we will do it again regardless of the risk. What people of faith — of every faith — need to do now is stand with us.”

“These were the first arrests in opposition to the immoral Obama Mandate, but they won’t be the last. Our freedom to exercise our religious beliefs without government coercion is one of our most precious liberties. We cannot bow to tyranny or be forced to participate in the taking of innocent human life against our consciences. Peaceful protects and civil disobedience can be expected to continue until Obama rescinds the mandate,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman, who is also head of Pro-Life Nation.

1 Year = No More President Obama

I must say that I’m quite thrilled to be writing this blog. Even with loads of homework, I’m stopping to share my thoughts. . . Because today is an exciting day.

Moments ago I realized that a year from today will be the 2012 presidential election. That means, President Obama’s term will be up. I pray, hope, and believe that President Obama will be defeated a year from now. The destruction he has wrought on our country, especially on religious freedoms and the moral beliefs of so many, is atrocious. President Obama is the most radically pro-abortion president our country has ever seen. Excuse my bluntness, but there is no question whether or not President Obama is in bed with Planned Parenthood. From cross overs in staff between the president's cabinet and Planned Parenthood, to all the extravagant parties and events President Obama attends with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, the president's long time romance with Planned Parenthood is no secret nor has the president ever desired to hide it.

I can hardly believe it has been three years since the day President Obama was elected. I remember praying and praying that it would not happen because it was so clear that Barack Obama had no regard for unborn children in the womb. If a man could be so clear in his position against life in the womb, then how could we ever expect him to respect any human life or human rights. As I watched the poles and continued to check my iPhone for updates inbetween my dance classes on November 8, 2008; I prayed and worried. Praise God proposition 8 was passing in California to define marriage between one man and one woman, but Barack Obama was winning.

As the night drew to a close, I wept, because I knew that Barack Obama being elected meant further destruction of life and expansion in abortion rights and accessibility. God knows we have fought and prayed as President Obama pushed FOCA, removed conscience rights, funded abortion and contraception in Health Care, and so much more. Just take a look at a little bit of his pro-abortion record here**.

Three years have gone by where we have exhausted resources, prayed to the point of tears, and fasted till we were starving because the unborn needed and still need our prayers and protection. But thank God, we should only have to endure another year of this radical pro-abortion president. But, we cannot defeat President Obama a year from today if we remain silent. We must be unified in our actions and we must pray and fast. Be educated on the presidential candidates and their positions.

We can defeat President Obama in 2012! I am certain we will. But you have to step out in faith and help make it happen. Talk to your pears and educate others because President Obama will be President no more, a year from now.

ACT Today: Protect Life Act In the House Today

I'm stopping right now to ask you to take immediate action regarding the Protect Life Act (H.R. 358) which is scheduled for consideration today, October 13th. 

Under President Obama's current Health Care plan there is no limit to the amount of tax dollars used to fund elective abortions. The Protect Life Act (H.R. 358), if passed, will prevent the funding of abortion in the Health Care plan. 

Some of the basics of what the Protect Life Act will do. 

• Uphold the Hyde Amendment which prevents any PPACA funds (tax dollars) from paying for abortion (except in the cases of rape/incest or threat to the mother's life).
• Subsidized federal funds will not be able to cover abortions that step outside of the Hyde Amendment restrictions. 
• Conscience protections upheld so that health care providers who will not take part in abortion receive federal funding without discrimination.  
• Individuals, states, and local governments will have to purchase a separate rider to cover elective abortions. This will only be allowed through private funds, not your tax dollars.

Here are the steps of action being asked of you by the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops:

MESSAGE FOR HOUSE: “During floor consideration, please vote for the Protect Life Act, H.R. 358, and oppose any motion to weaken the bill. This measure will amend the health care reform law to preserve longstanding federal policies on abortion and conscience rights."

Take Action Today to Stop the Birth Control Mandate

Friday September 30 is the last day to submit comments to Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding the Birth Control Mandate they set into place in August. This mandate will cover birth control, surgical sterilization, and abortifacients in all private heathcare plans.

Under this mandate taxpayers will fund Birth Control, Abortifacients (a drug or agent that causes abortion), and surgical sterilization? While you’ll be providing these free services for millions of Americana's to take advantage of at any time, women will not have to pay a dime to be sterilized, chemically abort their children, or access birth control.

Despite religious or moral beliefs you’re paying for it, and patients do not even have a co-pay for these services. (Read my article about the irony of this situation).

Here are a few things you should know which the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment (NCHLA) pointed out in their recent action alert:

• The statement that these services “do not include abortifacient drugs” is misleading. The FDA-approved "emergency contraception" (EC) drugs covered by this mandate can work by interfering with implantation. Also, the drug the FDA most recently approved for EC, "Ella,” a close analogue to the abortion drug RU-486, has been shown in animal tests to cause abortion. Thus, the mandate includes drugs that may cause an abortion both before and after implantation. 

• A religious exemption to the mandate is not only extremely narrow but unprecedented in federal law. Plans offered by a great many religious organizations, including Catholic colleges and universities as well as hospitals and charitable institutions that serve the general public, would be ineligible under the exemption. Individuals and health insurance companies do not qualify at all. 

Please defend the consciences of millions of Americans who do not support the tax payer funding of abortifacients, contraception, and sterilization. (Learn a little about the Catholic Church’s position on these issues) This will only take a few minutes:

Irony of the Birth Control Mandate -- Take Action

I was sitting in urgent care earlier today and I couldn't get over the fact that the woman in front of me was 19 weeks pregnant and had to pay a $15 co-pay in order to see a doctor after she fell, couldn't walk, and was having severe back and stomach pain. While in contrast, August 1st Health and Human Services (HHS) mandated that private health plans will cover "preventative services": contraceptives, sterilization, and abortifacients with NO co-pay or out of pocket expenses for these services.


Now, I see nothing wrong with co-pays. But I find it ridiculous that a woman wouldn't have to pay a dime to be sterilized, chemically abort her child, or prevent her body from naturally beginning human life while a woman who is pregnant, and severely hurt, has to pay to even get in the door at urgent care.


Don't let your tax dollars pay for this birth control mandate. Defend the consciences of millions of Americans who do not want to pay for birth control with their tax dollars. Take three quick and easy actions:

Action Alert: Stop the Birth Control Mandate

On August 3, 2011 the Department of Health and Human Services decided to mandate coverage of birth control, surgical sterilization, and abortifacients in all private heathcare plans.

Are you a tax payer? Do you support Birth Control, Abortifacients (a drug or agent that causes abortion), and surgical sterilization? Well you’ll be providing these services for millions of Americana's to take advantage of at any time. Despite religious or moral beliefs you’re paying for it, and patients do not even have a co-pay for these services.


 Church Teaching:

Contraception and Sterilization:
Catechism of the Catholic Church: "[E]very action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible is intrinsically evil" (CCC 2370).

"Legitimate intentions on the part of the spouses do not justify recourse to morally unacceptable means . . . for example, direct sterilization or contraception" (CCC 2399).

Abortifacient:
Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 2271:

Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:
You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.75
God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.76

Women's Equality Day

Today we celebrate Women's Equality Day and commemorate the 91st anniversary of the 19th amendment made to the Constitution. This amendment gave women the right to vote in 1920. The Senate and House of Representatives designated August 26th as Women's Equality Day, and it is common that president release a proclamation.  I would like to highlight some of the statements made in President Obama's Presidential Proclamation--Women's Equality Day 2011. 

"They let their feet speak when their voices alone were not enough, protesting and marching for their fundamental right to vote in the face of heckling, jail, and abuse. Their efforts led to enormous progress millions upon millions of women have since used the power of the ballot to help shape our country." 

"On the 91st anniversary of this landmark in civil rights, we continue to uphold the foundational American principles that we are all equal, and that each of us deserves a chance to pursue our dreams. We honor the heroes who have given of themselves to advance the causes of justice, opportunity, and prosperity." 

What truly beautiful statements these are! I hope that our president means what he said in this proclamation, and that he will allow all women -- born and unborn -- to pursue their dreams. I hope that the heckling, jailing, and abuse on those who believe in protecting the innocent women in the womb ends.

I believe that the next generation will be convicted and will stand true to one of President Obama's last statement, "I call upon the people of the United States to celebrate the achievements of women and recommit ourselves to the goal of gender equality in this country." (Presidential Proclamation--Women's Equality Day 2011)

11th Circuit Appeals Court Mandates Healthcare Unconstitutional

Last year we received the devastating news that President Barack Obama’s new Healthcare plan had passed through Congress and then through the Senate. Some of you may have even watched it live on television, I know I did . . . Today, nearly a year and half later, a Unites States Appeals Court in Georgia deemed it unconstitutional to mandate President Obama’s Healthcare plan.

For some, this new healthcare plan was an effort to provide medical care for all United States citizens. However, it was forcing Americans to purchase a health insurance plan against their will and in violation of the United States Constitution. This healthcare plan, that citizens would be forced to pay into, could cover: contraception, chemical and surgical abortion, along with risky wording regarding “end of life care” (Physician Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia). Whether you do or do not obtain services such as contraception and abortion you would have to pay for an expensive plan that covers them. Even if you’re satisfied with the health insurance you currently have, there is a strong likelihood it would not be available to you because the prices would significantly increase, or your employer would drop his employee health care plan in exchange for the Federally funded plan.

The Georgia Appeals Court is made up of three judges: 2 democrat and 1 republican. Despite President Obama insisting that mandating his healthcare plan was constitutional, even his own democratic party said otherwise. The 11th Circuit Court clearly stated:

the individual mandate contained in the Act exceeds Congress’s enumerated commerce power. This conclusion is limited in scope. The power that Congress has wielded via the Commerce Clause for the life of this country remains undiminished. Congress may regulate commercial actors. It may forbid certain commercial activity. It may enact hundreds of new laws and federally-funded programs, as it has elected to do in this massive 975- page Act. But what Congress cannot do under the Commerce Clause is mandate that individuals enter into contracts with private insurance companies for the purchase of an expensive product from the time they are born until the time they die.

It cannot be denied that the individual mandate is an unprecedented exercise of congressional power. As the CBO observed, Congress “has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States.” CBO MANDATE MEMO, supra p.115, at 1. Never before has Congress sought to regulate commerce by compelling non-market participants to enter into commerce so that Congress may regulate them. The statutory language of the mandate is not tied to health care consumption—past, present, or in the future. Rather, the mandate is to buy insurance now and forever. The individual mandate does not wait for market entry.

Here we go to the Supreme Court!

In May of this year the House, Senate, and governor of Indiana passed a bill de-funding Planned Parenthood in their state. Why? Planned Parenthood has been exposed numerous times over the years, and just this year Live Action has released over 8 undercover investigations exposing the lies and illegal activities of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood was not de-funded because of moral religious or beliefs, or because they perform abortions; but because of their lies, involvement it human trafficking, covering up of sexual offenders, lack of reporting sexual abuse of minors as young at 13, and much more. Immediately after Indiana de-funded Planned Parenthood the Obama Administration threatened to strip Medicaid funding in Indiana.


“The Obama administration is holding patients’ health hostage in return for funding the largest abortion provider in the country,” said Lila Rose 0f Live Action. “This abuse of power is a threat to every other state – that no matter the cost or consequences, this Administration will sacrifice healthcare for the needy to continue pouring tax dollars into Planned Parenthood.”
