Be Back Soon . . .

My Sisters and I with Santa
I hope everyone had a merry Christmas! With the Christmas celebrations, my cousin's wedding, New Years, and moving next week I will most likely not be writing this week and next. Until then I will be praying for all of my readers. May God bless you and your families!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you and you family!

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Pope John Paul II -- Advent & Christmas

Pope John Paul II in his address on Dec. 18, 2002 said:
"The liturgy of Advent…helps us to understand fully the value and meaning of the mystery of Christmas. It is not just about commemorating the historical event, which occurred some 2,000 years ago in a little village of Judea. Instead, it is necessary to understand that the whole of our life must be an ‘advent,’ a vigilant awaiting of the final coming of Christ. To predispose our mind to welcome the Lord who, as we say in the Creed, one day will come to judge the living and the dead, we must learn to recognize him as present in the events of daily life. Therefore, Advent is, so to speak, an intense training that directs us decisively toward him who already came, who will come, and who comes continuously."

Merry Christmas to you and Yours!

Teen Counsels Pregnant Women in Cyberspace

Today's guest post is by Laura Peredo

Sometimes it feels like the world is going in a fast-forward mode. We’re all so busy, it’s hard as a pro-lifer to find the time to get out and help save lives. We all want to be there for the mothers and babies in need, but with only 24 hours in a day, it just doesn’t happen as often as we’d like. Don’t be discouraged! I’ve got good news for you! You can help save lives with just a few minutes of your time.

Many people call abortion clinics the front-line of the battle between life and death - the last place you can reach out to a woman and help her choose life for herself and her baby. If you don’t have the time to go outside an abortion clinic, here’s an idea: go behind the scenes. Instead of fighting on the front-lines, go into the back ground and reach out to abortion-bound women before they even get to the clinic.

How can you do that? It’s quite simple!

Recently I was reminded at the International Pro-Life Youth Conference to be where the people are at. Where are these mothers before they go to the clinics? Many of them are online. They post questions on Yahoo Answers, and comment on YouTube with their stories. These women who desperately need to hear the message of hope and love pour out their hearts online, and we need to be there for them.

I recently started going online to places like Yahoo Answers and YouTube, and have found so many mothers who are just waiting for someone to reach out to them. We can save lives by reaching out to women before they even get to the clinic. All it takes is a few minutes each day.

Most of my work has been on Yahoo Answers. I like going there best because I can easily search for questions with the keyword “abortion”, and then narrow my search for recent questions. Once I find a question to answer, I answer it with facts and make sure to communicate the love of God, and the message of hope many women in tough situations need to hear.

Much like being outside an abortion clinic, it is important while answering questions online to communicate a message of love and hope in a short amount of time without a hint of condemnation. Don’t write an essay in response to any question. Simply let the woman know that she does not have to go through with the abortion. Let her know that you can help find places near her that will assist her if needed. If you know how far along she is, you can share some information about her baby’s development, but as with sidewalk counseling, use discretion with what you write. Make it short and sweet, and make sure you offer to help her through her situation. Make sure she can contact you, and do everything you can to help her and her baby. It’s as easy as a google search to find pregnancy centers near her!

I can’t say that I’ve saved hundreds of babies by reaching out to women online, but I have seen a profound appreciation for spreading the message of love and hope. These mothers need just that. They need you to be there for them before they get to the clinic.

The other day someone responded to me saying “I wish there were more people like you.” These women, and everyone affected by abortion, just need a hand to reach out to them and tell them they can get through this. They need a few kind words, and lots of encouragement. All it takes is one minute answering a question to save a life. Are you ready to join me and spread hope and love across the breadth of cyberspace?

TWEET THAT! Score #10forTebow

This season NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has been racking up scores of points for the Broncos. While this is very exciting for him and all his fans, pro-abortion proponents have turned it into something rather unfavorable . . .

Since Tim Tebow is outspokenly pro-life and has the power to reach millions of people; abortion supporters are not too happy. Pro-abortion advocates have started a campaign that encourages $10 to be donated to any pro-abortion organization for every touchdown Tebow makes. I find this wicked and frustrating, espeically because the campaign has gotten quite a bit of traction. Those who support the taking of innocent lives may be getting a kick out of this campaign, but little to they realize that the pro-life movement will not sit by idly while it happens.

Pro-life blogger Jill Stanek has provided us with an opportunity to counter the negative attack and have a positive impact:

So, pro-lifers unite! Let’s take over the #10forTebow hashtag – beginning today! Use that hashtag for all your tweets. And watch the Broncos/Patriots tomorrow, December 18, at 4:15p EST and note your $10 donation at #10forTebow

Even if you're not able to donate $10 for each of Tebow's touchdowns you can help create some buzz on Facebook and Twitter by sharing this blog and by using the #10forTebow hashtag.

I’ve Always Loved Christian Bale -- From Little Women to Batman

As little girls many of us fell in love with Christian Bale’s role as the kind and loving Teddy in Little Women. Then we all adored him as the superhero Batman. Yesterday, he did something that touches my heart closely and I’m sure the hearts of many others. Batman (I mean Christian Bale) attempted to visit Chen Guancheng, a blind human rights activist who has been instrumental in speaking out against, and exposing, the One Child Policy in China. In 2006 Chen revealed that over 130,000 forced abortions and sterilizations took place in Linyi County in 2005 alone (this is just ONE county in all of China); because of this Chen and his family have been brutally beaten and have been kept hostage by the Chinese government for the last year after Chen spent roughly 4 years in prison.

Christian Bale is truly a hero for reaching out the way he did. He may not have been able to see Chen Guancheng, but he has brought mass media attention to Chen’s situation and to the One Child Policy in China. Awareness having been created about Chen’s situation by organizations and people across the country is what has lead to better treatment of Chen and his family the last few months. Never underestimate the difference your voice can make.

Let’s be courageous like our hero Batman and speak out against injustices in our world!

A Beautiful Quote

I'm in the middle of finals this week, so I probably will not be posting this week. However, this is a beautiful quote that I have to share:
"Every year, there are literally millions of children silently crying out and begging for somebody to help them, somebody to give them mercy. And we have to decide if that somebody is going to be us, or if we're going to just ignore their cries. Because even when you can't hear them it doesn't mean they're not there. I cannot stand before God when I die, look Him in the eye, and say to Him that I was too busy to do this or it just wasn't my thing."

Profits from Popular Christmas Flowers Pay for Abortions

Planned Parenthood is once again raking in the money from everyday people, even during the Christmas season. The festive poinsettia plants that are used to decorate churches and homes over the Christmas season are helping to fund Planned Parenthood.

Paul Ecke Ranch, the world's largest distributor of poinsettias, is a large benefactor of Planned Parenthood. For years Paul Ecke's family has been recognized as one of the largest abortion supporters in San Diego.

This Christmas season I ask you to please purchase your poinsettia plants with caution this year, by checking if the poinsettia came from Ecke's Ranch. Every time I see a poinsettia plant I check the tag to see whether or not they're from Ecke's Ranch.

If you know of anywhere that sells Eche's Ranch poinsettias let me know and I'll post a list.

Action Alert: No One Should be Forced to Participate in Abortion

Nurses, doctors, and other health care providers are being forced to participate in abortion and to help provide contraception. Today, it is vital we support current legislation that will protect health care providers from participating in abortion and contraception against their will. National Committee for a Human Life Amendment:
“Abortion Non-Discrimination Act (ANDA) strengthens existing federal conscience protection laws and affirms the principle that no health care entity should be forced by government to perform or participate in abortions.”

In a press release NCHLA said we need to take action now:

Newt Tells CatholicVote: “Human life begins at conception.”

Last week GOP candidate Newt Gingrich made a comment to ABC news saying life begins at implantation. Over the weekend Newt Gingrich released the following statement affirming that life begins at conception and that he will do everything in his power to promote the dignity of human life. In addition, Gingrich's campaign team contacted Catholic Vote directly to assure them of Gingrich's pro-life stance. Here is the statement which is also published on Gingrich's campaign website:

Gingrich Reaffirms His Belief in the Sanctity of all Human Life, Born and Unborn

Atlanta, GA - Newt 2012 released the following statement today from Newt Gingrich regarding his belief in the sanctity of all human life, born and unborn.

"As I have stated many times throughout the course of my public life, I believe that human life begins at conception. I believe that every unborn life is precious, no matter how conceived. I also believe that we should work for the day when there will be no abortions for any reason, and that every unborn child will be welcomed into life and protected by law.

That is why I have supported, and will continue to support, pro-life legislation that not only limits, but also reduces, the total number of abortions, with a view to the eventual legal protection of all unborn human life.

As I have also stated in the past, on day one of my administration, I will sign an executive order reinstating Ronald Reagan’s Mexico City policy that prevents taxpayer dollars from being used to fund abortions overseas. I will also work with Congress to repeal Obamacare, defund Planned Parenthood so that no taxpayer dollars are being used to fund abortions but rather transfer the money so it is used to promote adoption and other pro-family policies, and to enact legislation that provides greater protections for the unborn.

In terms of new pro-life legislation, I stated as recently as November 19 at a public forum of candidates in Iowa that I support Congress enacting pro-life legislation under the 14th Amendment, including legislation that would define personhood as beginning at conception.

As I have also made clear in several of my public pronouncements throughout this campaign, I oppose federal funding of any research that destroys a human embryo because we are also dealing here with human life.

My convictions on human life are longstanding, deeply felt, and irrevocable matters of conscience. I will do all in my power – always – to foster reverence for life."
I fully trust GOP candidate Gingrich in his pro-life position and think he laid it out quite eloquently.

Newt Gingrich -- Life Begins at Implantation

Not really feeling GOP candidate Newt Gingrich's position on claiming life begins at implantation:

1. Science clearly shows life begins at fertilization.
2. He is Catholic and this goes against Catholic Church teaching.

This being said, he does appear to be very pro-life, despite changing positions during his career. People change, grow, and improve their character.

Your thoughts?
